The Battle of Cross Keys, 8th June 1862

After Action Report

The situation before the battle
Since there is a limit of 10 units to deploy, I decided to put 8 brigades of infantry and 2 artillery batteries there (without any cavalry).

05:24 I extended the line to the woods, putting 3 brigades in front. The Federals started attacking there as expected.

05:29 They were attacking my 6th Brigade, creating an opportunity to flank them with my 5th.

05.31 After receiving a few devastating volleys, they began to fall back.

05:44 Union had considered that this position is formidable. They slowed down the attack in this area.

05.52 After 20 minutes of fighting, the Federals started testing my center. I routed their skirmishers back.

6.00 They tried to cross the stream and flank us. Unfortunately, my 9th BG is ready to stop them.

06.04 My 9th BG poured a close-ranged volley into poor Stahel's brigade.

06.10 The send a lone battery to my right, attracting me to send out a detached skirmishers.

06:15 Keeping my 11th BG in a small wooded area, my skirmishers were trying to shoot the battery from the flank.

06:19 My 11th BG added a volley into that battery. It's too much, they decided to fall back.

06:35 My 11th BG's skirmishers could keep this battery at distance, preventing them to rain canister on my troops.
